In
my class, we'll first go through the basics of double-knitting and edge
treatments. I'll show you how to perform a two-color cast on, read
double-knitting charts, and create a two-colored diamond pattern on a
swatch. It's interesting to note that the colorwork used in my
techniques serves a dual purpose. It's beautiful, but also, wherever a
color change occurs, that's where the two pieces of fabric are being
locked together. In the following lesson, I'll show you how to cast on
and double-knit in the round to create a headband or cowl. Then, we'll
look at multiple variations of increases and decreases, and how to work
left and right traveling cables. Next, I'll show you how to follow a
chart to work the increases and decreases for a DK hat with mock ribbing
and reversible cables. After that, I'll walk you through more increases
and decreases to close off the DK hat with a spiral motif effect. Join
me for Adventures in Double-Knitting, and create remarkable, reversible knit accessories.

I
got started with knitting largely by chance. I was teaching origami at a
craft-sharing event in college, and the attendance at my workshop
was... nonexistent. So, I sat in on a knitting class and was immediately
hooked. When I graduated with my Art Degree, I lost the studio space
that I had grown accustomed to. While that meant I could no longer
sculpt, I continued to knit, of which my mother and grandmother were
very supportive. At one point I stumbled across Reversible Two-Color Knitting
by Jane Neighbors, and learned the slip-stitch method of
double-knitting from the appendix of that book. I kept researching what
could be done with fabric that has two faces, and found that there was
nothing on two-pattern double-knitting, multi-color double-knitting, or a
number of the other techniques I was working with. I refined these
techniques further, and published them in my book Extreme Double-Knitting.

Since
my book has come out, I've been doing a lot more traveling and
teaching. I'm excited to be teaching at Craftsy because it connects me
to people from all over the world, but still allows me to answer
questions and give feedback to my students. Craftsy classes are of great
value because once you enroll in one, it's immediately there for you,
and your access never expires. If you get stuck during any part of the
class, just type out your question, and I'll get back to you with
answers. Craftsy classes are professionally filmed in high definition,
so you get a superb view that would likely be impossible in a live
class. You can take time-marked video notes, put your video on a
30-second repeat loop, and share projects for feedback and praise. And
if for any reason you aren't satisfied, you can return your class for a
full refund.
